AsaanKam (“AsaanKam”, “we”, “us”) operates a marketplace that connects customers with independent service providers, and employers with jobseekers, in Pakistan. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data in the AsaanKam Android app (package com.sncodext.asaankam.app) and on asaankam.com. By using the app or the site you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information.
- Registration details. Name, email address, phone number and city when you create an account.
- Service request details. The category, description and photos you attach to a request.
- Location data. Requests are pinned to a location on a map so that nearby providers can be shown the request and ranked by distance. Providers set a work area. We use the location you pin or enter; where you grant the app location permission, we may use device location to make pinning easier. You can deny that permission and pin manually.
- Bid and booking activity. Bids sent and received, accepted bids, confirmations, cancellations and their reasons, completion requests, completion OTP events, ratings and reviews, and booking-scoped chat messages including photo and video attachments.
- Payment reports. Amounts and methods that providers report when settling their commission ledger, including screenshots they upload as proof. Payments between customers and providers are not processed by AsaanKam, so we do not collect customers’ card or wallet details.
- Provider identity documents. Images of the front and back of a provider’s CNIC, submitted during onboarding, and the settlement details they provide.
- Employer and jobseeker details. Business registration details for employers; job applications submitted by jobseekers.
- Reports and disputes. The content of any behaviour report, dispute or support request you file, and our correspondence with you about it.
- Device identifiers. A push-notification token for your device so we can send booking and system notifications, and basic device and app-version information for troubleshooting.
- Website forms. If you use the contact, notify-me or account-deletion forms on this site, the details you enter are emailed to our support inbox, sent via EmailJS, a third-party email-delivery service that receives the submission directly from your browser and relays it to us.
2. How we use it
- To operate and improve the platform — creating accounts, showing requests to nearby approved providers, delivering bids, running the 5-minute confirmation window and the 6-digit completion OTP, and maintaining provider ledgers.
- To match customers with providers by category and real distance, and employers with applicants.
- To send booking, bid, approval and system notifications in the app and by push notification.
- To review provider and employer applications before approval.
- To investigate behaviour reports and disputes against the actual record of the booking.
- To prevent fraud, abuse, impersonation and circumvention of the platform.
- To calculate referral and milestone credits.
- To meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
We do not use your data for third-party advertising and we do not sell it.
3. Sharing
We share personal data only as described here.
- With providers, when you post a request. Providers in the area see your first name, your request details and photos, and the general area of the pinned location so they can judge distance.
- With the provider whose bid you accept. Once you accept a bid and the provider confirms, that provider receives your full phone number and the precise location so they can reach you and find you. No other provider receives it.
- With customers, when you are a provider. Customers see your name, your ratings and reviews, and the details of your bid.
- With employers, when you apply for a job. Your application is visible to the verified employer who posted the job. Your contact details are released to that employer only when they shortlist you, one applicant at a time.
- With service providers we rely on. Our hosting and database provider, our push-notification provider and our email provider process data on our behalf, under contract, only to provide those services.
- For safety and law enforcement. Where we receive a report of harassment, abuse, theft, violence or other apparently criminal conduct, we may disclose the relevant booking records, chat history and identity information we hold to the police, and to the affected person for the purpose of registering an FIR, as described in section 9 of our Terms of Service. We may also disclose data where required by law, court order or a lawful request from a competent authority.
- In a business transfer. If AsaanKam is acquired or merged, personal data may be transferred to the successor, who will be bound by this policy.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
4. Provider vetting
Every provider must submit identity documents (CNIC front and back) during onboarding, and our team reviews them before the account is approved. Approval is enforced in our database: an unapproved account cannot send bids. Employers are likewise verified by an administrator before they can post a job.
5. Retention and deletion
- We keep your personal data while your account is active.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete Account) or via asaankam.com/delete-account. In-app deletion takes effect immediately; email and form requests are processed within 30 days of verifying your identity. TODO(owner): confirm window
- On deletion we erase your personal data — name, phone number, email, city, profile details and identity documents — and destroy your login. Records that other people depend on are kept in de-identified form: the other party’s completed bookings, the reviews behind a provider’s rating, and settled commission history. A provider must settle outstanding commission dues before their account can be removed.
- We may retain specific records for longer where the law requires it, where a behaviour report or dispute is open, or where they are needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
- Website form submissions are retained in our support inbox and in EmailJS's delivery history for as long as needed to handle the request.
6. Security
Data is encrypted in transit using TLS. Access to production systems is restricted to authorised personnel. Our database enforces row-level authorisation, so that each account can read and write only the records it is entitled to; these policies are audited and maintained on the live database. Identity documents are stored in access-controlled storage and are viewable only by administrators for the purposes described in this policy.
No system is completely secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, or you have found a security vulnerability, please report it to support@asaankam.com.
7. Cookies and analytics
This website sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics. It does not use advertising pixels or third-party fonts. The only data the site collects is what you type into its forms. Submitting a form sends that data directly from your browser to EmailJS, which relays it to our support inbox — the only third party this site's forms talk to; nothing else on the site loads third-party scripts. Your browser may store a small amount of local data solely to make the site function (for example, remembering that you dismissed a notice); this is not used to identify or track you. If we ever add analytics we will use a cookieless, privacy-preserving tool and update this section first.
The app uses push-notification services to deliver booking and system notifications; the token used for that is described in section 1.
8. Children’s privacy
AsaanKam is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at support@asaankam.com and we will delete it.
9. Your rights
You can:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate details — most can be edited directly in the app.
- Delete your account and personal data, as described in section 5.
- Object to particular uses of your data, or ask us to restrict them.
- Withdraw permissions such as location or notifications at any time in your device settings; some features will then not work.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@asaankam.com from the address registered on your account. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. We respond within 24 hours to acknowledge a request, and complete it as quickly as we reasonably can.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of the page shows the current version. For material changes we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
